Likes to mess with stuffs.

GAMESPY.COM - Recently, Notch told us that he's currently recharging his creative batteries in preparation to take the reins on his Next Big Thing this summer. So then, how exactly does one follow Minecraft without gnawing their fingernails into nearly non-existent nubs in fear of falling short? Me, I'd probably charter a rocketship to space, as I'd rather deal with the Wrath of Khan than the wrath of easily disappointed fans. Notch, though, seems primed to make a game about space instead...

This is great news. Notch is the creator of minecraft, 5 million copies sold. He is nerdy and rich doesnt really care for money. Firefly will get exposed to thousands new people. And the game sounds interresting, even though it sounds more like a idea than an actual plan.

There is already Firefly Universe Online that the FF fans are behind. Http://fireflyuniverseonline.com. One would think Notch would know how to use Google before making remarks like this, doesnt place him in a very bright light, imho.

On past form, Notch would be expected to come up with something which resmbles that in much the same way that Minecraft resembles World of Warcraft. I.e. not at all.

I just wish you could build (working) spaceships in Minecraft... I mean, if you can build graphing calculators ( http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Minecraft-Calculator-Graphing-MaxSGB-
Scientific,15109.html) why not spaceships? Yeah, I know people have built replicas of the USS Enterprise, but nothing happens when you say "engage!"...

In the meantime, there's always Elite/Oolite or Freelancer (which are very Firefly-esque, despite predating it...)
